Join Young Melbourne GAA for the 2026/27 season

Looking for a great summer sport for the kids? Young Melbourne GAA is open to boys and girls, with teams for U6, U8, U10, U12, U14/15 and U17. Gaelic football is a brilliant mix of skills from AFL, soccer and basketball, so it's a great way to keep active and keep those footy skills going over summer.

The season runs from October through to February, but the commitment is really manageable. Training is generally on Sunday mornings at Albert Park, but not every weekend. There are junior tournaments throughout the season in place of some training weekends, including events at Albert Park and Geelong, with an optional junior trip to Brisbane for the Féile Tournament at the end of February.

The season kicks off with a fun tournament in Geelong on Sunday 4 October, with the first regular kids' training in Albert Park on Sunday 11 October. There's then a mix of training and tournaments through November and December, a break over Christmas, before starting again in late January and February.

Registration is $150 for U6, U8 and U10, and $195 for U12, U14/15 and U17.

How to register

Register online through Foireann.

When setting up your registration:

  1. Create an account for yourself and register your own details.
  2. When selecting your club, choose GAA → Australia → Young Melbourne.
  3. Once your account is created, go to Family and create a family profile.
  4. Add your child/children to your family as youth players.
  5. You can then complete the Young Melbourne registration for each child from their profile.

No Gaelic experience needed — it's a fun, social summer sport and a great option for AFL and soccer kids who want to keep playing without committing to another full winter-style season.
