About

Port Melbourne Colts Junior Football Club (PMCJFC) is a community-based Australian Football Club (AFL) that provides opportunities for children and young people in the Port Melbourne and surrounding areas to develop their football skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our junior teams participate in the South Melbourne Junior Football League (SMJFL) age-based competitions. We are based in Port Melbourne, Victoria with our home ground being JL Murphy Reserve.

Club Mission

Development of youth

We are dedicated to developing young footballers, teaching them the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. As a club we aim to provide opportunities for players to improve their skills and build confidence on and off the field.

Community Focus

Community-based club

We place a strong emphasis on connecting with the local community and promoting the health and wellbeing of our members. We encourage family participation, volunteering, and a sense of belonging among our players and supporters.

Coaching and Development

Structured coaching

Experienced coaches work to develop both the technical and tactical aspects of the game. The focus is on skill development and enjoyment of the game, with an emphasis on teaching kids the fundamentals of AFL, such as kicking, handballing, marking, tackling, and teamwork.

Guided Pathways

Player journeys

We provide a pathway for players to move from junior levels into senior football. Many of the players from the junior teams often go on to represent the senior Port Melbourne Colts teams or transition into elite AFL and AFLW programs.

Volunteering

Parent involvement

Our club thrives on the involvement of parents and volunteers. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, including roles such as team managers, coaches, assistant coaches, water carriers, trainers, and other match day roles.
