Mixed Teams

We offer a range of teams for junior boys and girls (mixed) across various age groups. Our club focuses on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, all while fostering a love of the game in a fun and inclusive setting.

Players are placed in the appropriate age groups based on their date of birth. We ensure players are placed in teams that suit their skill level to ensure an enjoyable and challenging experience.

Our players range from those who have played before to those who are new to the game. To get involved, simply register today. We also encourage any players to bring along a friend to training and give footy a go!

How is age calculated?

Junior players can only register for the 2026 season if their date of birth is within the range of 01 January 2008 and 30 April 2019.

How much does it cost to register?

Pricing for the 2026 season is made up of our PMCJFC fee + $60 SMJFL and insurance charge. All registered players have access to the SMJFL insurance plan.

How do I register my child?

All registrations are done via PlayHQ. Fees must be paid at time of registration or you will NOT be registered.

If you are transferring from another club to PMCJFL, please notify your existing club first. Transfers are not complete until they have been approved.

How long is the season?

The South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) season runs from April 2025 until August 2025 (dates to be confirmed), plus 2-3 weeks of age specific finals.

When and where is training?

Training is held at JL Murphy Reserve, 351 Williamstown Rd, Port Melbourne and may include drills for basic skills, game simulation, fitness exercises, and team-building activities. All players are expected to attend all training sessions unless precluded by school commitments, summer sports, genuine illness or holidays away from Melbourne. View training times.

What footy gear do I need?

All players need match day shorts, socks and footy boots. The club provides players with match day jumpers to be returned at the end of the season. Water bottles and mouth guards are required at all training sessions and match days.

Do I have to volunteer?

Our club relies heavily on volunteers to help run its operations, coordinate events, support players, and ensure a positive and supportive environment for everyone involved. There are a wide range of volunteer roles to help ensure the smooth running of the club throughout the season. These roles can vary from game-day tasks to off-field support and behind-the-scenes duties.

All volunteers require a Working With Children certificate.

What are the benefits of playing ALF?

Playing AFL has many benefits for boys and girls, including:

  • Physical fitness: AFL is a highly active sport that builds strength, agility, endurance, and coordination.
  • Confidence and empowerment: Kids involved in AFL develop leadership skills, teamwork, and confidence.
