Volunteering
Volunteering at the Port Melbourne Colts Junior Football Club is a rewarding way to contribute to the community and support the development of young players. Our club relies heavily on volunteers to help run its operations, coordinate events, support players, and ensure a positive and supportive environment for everyone involved. If you're a parent, family member, or community member looking to get involved, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer at the club.
There are a wide range of volunteer roles to help ensure the smooth running of the club throughout the season. These roles can vary from game-day tasks to off-field support and behind-the-scenes duties.

All you need to know
Do I need a working with children certificate?
Yes. A Working with Children check is mandatory for all volunteers.
This check is designed to help protect children from individuals who may pose a risk to a child's safety and well-being. The process involves a criminal background check, including checking for any relevant criminal convictions, charges, or findings. Additionally, it includes a review of any findings made by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in relation to child protection.
Will there be training courses?
There will be a training course for Trainers to be held at the beginning of the season (dates and times to be confirmed).
Team Managers will participate in an onboarding session at the beginning of the season (dates and times to be confirmed).
Coaches will have on the job training throughout the year and use resources provided by Play AFL.
How often do I need to volunteer?
How often you volunteer is up to you. We do ask that at least one family member does put their hand up once or twice throughout the season. Volunteering covers a wide range of activities, which means there are roles to suit people with different interests and skills.
Do I need any particular skills?
You don't need any particular skills to volunteer. We do provide training and onboarding for some of the roles, but all we need is your willingness to lend a hand.
