SMJFL Summer Football / AFL Nines Is Here!

The SMJFL, alongside AFL Victoria, are running fun, social opportunities to keep active and engaged with football over the warmer months.

Excitingly, these opportunities are not just limited to 13- to 16-year-olds, but players 7- to 12-year-olds can join in the fun. See below for more details on how your communities can be part of the action:

Summer Football (for 7–12-year-olds, age at 31/12/2026)

  • Date: Tuesday October 20 - Tuesday December 1 (6 weeks, no matches on Melbourne Cup Day)
  • Location: TBC
  • Time: 4.30pm – 5.30pm

Instructions for registering:

  • Registrations are done as individuals.
  • Players are to select their SMJFL club and age group at the time of registration, so players can be grouped into teams accordingly.

AFL Nines (for 13–18-year-olds, age at 31/12/2026)

  • Date: Tuesday October 20 - Tuesday December 1 (6 weeks, no matches on Melbourne Cup Day)
  • Location: TBC
  • Time: Teams will be fixtured for 1 x 45-minute game each week between 5.30pm – 8.30pm (exact times will be provided once fixture is released)

Instructions for registering:

  • Interested in registering a team: One (1) person is required to register the team. Person registering the team can then share the team-specific registration link to their teammates, for them to register directly to that team.
  • Interested in registering as an individual: If you have players interested in registering, but they have don’t enough to create a team, please see instructions within the registration link on how to register as individual players. We will then endeavour to find a team for them to play in.
